Details

The legendary Madone is now available in aluminum! Built with their super-aerodynamic KVF tubes, Trek’s 2 Series Madone smooths the air from tip to tail to effortlessly turn pedal power into speed. Up front, Trek's asymmetrical, tapered E2 front end makes the steering stable and predictable so you can slice through corners with pinpoint precision. Meanwhile, Trek's H2 geometry is dialed in for all-day comfort with a slightly higher handlebar position. You'll also love the lightweight Bontrager wheels, the excellent Shimano wide-range drivetrain with super-easy gearing for conquering the climbs and the quality brakes for speed control. All the Madone's speed comes with versatility, too because you also get discreet rack and fender mounts that let you load up for commuting, wet weather and off-season rides.

Trek's KVF tube

Trek's Kammtail Virtual Foil (KVF) is an aerodynamic tube shape that maintains its full drag-reducing benefits at every yaw angle (the direction of the wind on your frame) by removing the trailing edge of the airfoil (compare the top and bottom profiles in the image above). The result? Lightweight, aerodynamic tubing that makes your bike faster in every situation, from headwinds to tailwinds and everything in between.

Tapered head tube and fork. For increased stiffness and improved steering precision, tapered head tubes (see image, on left) and forks pair an oversize lower steerer tube (usually 1 1/2-inch, see image, on right) with a standard diameter upper steerer tube (usually 1 1/8-inch). This combination sheds weight compared to straight 1 1/2-inch systems, and adds stability and stiffness when compared to straight 1 1/8-inch systems. The result is a bike that tracks better through corners while allowing for the use of standard stems.

      Comments:

I ordered the bike online and picked it up at David's in Tampa. The employee was very helpful and took his time fitting the bike for me. I waited till I had at least 100 miles before reviewing the bike. I really, really like this bike. Before this bike I road a Trek Pilot which has the endurance frame geometry for comfort. I was a little concerned about going to the H2 frame. I'm 53 and find the bike very comfortable, although I would rate the seat just okay. This is a great bike for the money. Even though it's aluminum, the bike is plenty light enough. The shifting is very good and the brakes are excellent. I have no regrets buying this bike and it even looks good in white. This bike is a great value I highly recommend it and David's.

I raced overseas back in the 80's and early 90's on more expensive bikes but for the price and features this bike is just as good.
